Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Plate Atlas, an AI menu dish guide and food journal operated by NiONlite LLC ("NiONlite", "we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using Plate Atlas, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Plate Atlas. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the App.
2. License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Plate Atlas on Apple devices that you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial use.
You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, sell, lease, sublicense, scrape, abuse, overload, or interfere with the App, its AI proxy, its security systems, or its third-party services.
3. What Plate Atlas Does
Plate Atlas helps users scan or type menu dish text, generate AI-powered dish explanations, compare likely ingredients with dietary preferences and allergens, save dishes and restaurants, mark dishes as safe for me, and keep post-meal notes.
Important: Plate Atlas is an informational tool. It is not medical, nutritional, allergy, dietetic, restaurant, or food safety advice. AI results may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or based on assumptions. Always verify ingredients, allergens, cross-contact, and preparation with restaurant staff before eating.
4. AI Results and User Responsibility
- AI dish explanations are estimates based on menu text, dish names, dietary profile settings, and available model knowledge.
- Restaurant recipes, substitutions, cooking oils, sauces, cross-contact, and preparation methods can vary widely.
- You are solely responsible for deciding what to eat and for verifying food safety with qualified staff or professionals.
- If you have severe allergies, medical dietary restrictions, pregnancy-related restrictions, or health conditions, do not rely solely on the App.
5. Free and Pro Features
Plate Atlas may offer a free version with limits on scans, text searches, saved dishes, safe-for-me items, custom allergens, disliked ingredients, map features, notes, or other features. Plate Atlas Pro may unlock higher or unlimited access to certain features, remove ads, and provide additional functionality. Feature availability may change over time.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Plate Atlas Pro subscriptions are purchased through Apple's in-app purchase system and are billed to your Apple ID. Subscription options may include monthly and annual plans. Prices, taxes, trial eligibility, and availability may vary by country and App Store region.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
- Cancellation stops future renewal but does not usually refund the current period unless Apple or applicable law requires it.
- Refund requests for Apple purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
7. Ads
The free version of Plate Atlas may display Google AdMob banner ads. Plate Atlas Pro is intended to remove ads while your subscription is active.
8. User Content
You are responsible for dish names, menu text, saved restaurant details, notes, post-meal notes, and other content you add to the App. You agree not to submit unlawful, abusive, misleading, infringing, or harmful content.
You retain ownership of your content. You grant NiONlite the limited right to process content as needed to provide App features, AI responses, support, security, and troubleshooting.
9. Privacy
Your use of Plate Atlas is also governed by the Plate Atlas Privacy Policy, which explains how information is collected, used, stored, and shared.
10. Third-Party Services
Plate Atlas depends on services from Apple, Cloudflare, Google, and optional AI providers. We are not responsible for outages, limitations, pricing changes, policy changes, or errors caused by third-party services.
11. App Availability and Changes
We may update, modify, limit, suspend, discontinue, or remove features at any time. We do not guarantee that the App or AI services will be available, uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or error-free.
12. Intellectual Property
Plate Atlas, including its design, software, branding, text, graphics, icons, and other content, is owned by NiONlite LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the App or any NiONlite intellectual property to you.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AND AVAILABILITY.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NIONLITE LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, FOOD-RELATED HARM, ALLERGY OR DIETARY DECISIONS, LOST PROFITS, OR SERVICE INTERRUPTION. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATED TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR PLATE ATLAS PRO IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR $50.
15. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless NiONlite LLC from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the App, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.
16. Apple App Store Terms
If you downloaded Plate Atlas from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and NiONlite, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, maintenance, support, warranty, or claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you as related to your App Store use.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. This does not limit any consumer rights you may have under the laws where you live.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may provide notice in the App or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
